Finding the Right Custodian

For a current Sabine County Jail custody question or a county booking record, begin with the Sheriff’s Office. The physical office and jail reference is 310 Main Street, Hemphill, TX 75948. The Sheriff’s mailing address is PO Box 848, Hemphill, TX 75948. The main, non-emergency number is 409-787-2266, and the fax number is 409-787-2150. Courthouse hours are generally 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, although some county offices close from noon to 1:00 p.m. No separate Sheriff records line, booking-photo email, fee schedule, or online request form was verified.

For a written request, identify the specific existing record, the person, and an approximate date. The county’s Public Information Act guidance allows written requests by mail, fax, email, or in person to the elected official who keeps the record. The Sheriff’s main line can route a question when the proper custodian is unclear.
